BioZyme Plus™
Advanced Digestive Enzyme & Phthalate-Degrading Enzyme Formula Developed to support efficient digestion while incorporating a specialized thermostable esterase with demonstrated ability to hydrolyze phthalate esters.
Modern diets expose us to a wide variety of food additives, processed ingredients, and environmental chemicals. Among these are phthalates, a class of chemicals widely used in plastics and other consumer products.
BioZyme Plus™ takes a two-pronged approach: support digestion with a comprehensive blend of digestive enzymes while providing EstS1 (Phthalazyme), a specialized esterase studied for its ability to enzymatically degrade phthalate esters.
The Science Behind EstS1 (Phthalazyme)
BioZyme Plus™ contains 400 mg of thermostable esterase from Sulfobacillus acidophilus (EstS1/Phthalazyme).
Research on EstS1 has demonstrated that this enzyme can enzymatically hydrolyze a range of phthalate esters (PAEs) into their corresponding monoalkyl phthalate products.
In laboratory studies, EstS1 demonstrated substantial activity against multiple phthalate esters, with 35–82% hydrolysis occurring within two minutes at 37°C, and complete degradation of the tested substrates within 24 hours under the experimental conditions.
These findings are scientifically interesting because they identify EstS1 as an enzyme capable of breaking down phthalate ester compounds.
Importantly, laboratory enzyme activity should not be interpreted as proof that oral BioZyme Plus™ removes phthalates from human tissues or the bloodstream. Human studies are needed to establish that effect.
Comprehensive Digestive Enzyme Support
BioZyme Plus™ also contains a broad spectrum of enzymes designed to support the digestion of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and other components of the diet:
- Amylase — 4,000 DU
Supports the digestion of starches and carbohydrates. - Lipase — 100 FCC LU
Supports the digestion of dietary fats. -
Glycoamylase — 10 AGU
Supports carbohydrate and starch digestion. -
Protease — 7,000 HUT
Supports the breakdown of dietary proteins. -
Malt Diastase — 250 DP
Supports the digestion of starches and maltose-containing carbohydrates. -
Invertase — 242 AU
Supports the breakdown of sucrose into its component sugars. -
Alpha-Galactosidase — 200 AGSU
Helps break down certain complex carbohydrates that can otherwise be difficult to digest.
Additional Plant Enzymes
BioZyme Plus™ also incorporates enzymes traditionally associated with digestive support, including:
Papaya enzymes (papain) — a proteolytic enzyme derived from papaya that supports protein digestion.
Bromelain — a group of proteolytic enzymes derived from pineapple that supports protein digestion.
Why BioZyme Plus™?
BioZyme Plus™ is designed around an important principle:
Digestion is the first step in making nutrition available to the body.
A comprehensive digestive enzyme formula can help support the breakdown of the foods we consume, while the inclusion of EstS1 (Phthalazyme) brings an innovative enzyme technology to the formula with demonstrated in-vitro activity against phthalate esters.
Rather than relying on a single digestive enzyme, BioZyme Plus™ provides a broad enzymatic spectrum addressing proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and selected complex carbohydrates—along with a specialized esterase that has been studied for phthalate degradation.
The Bigger Picture
We cannot completely eliminate our exposure to plastics and environmental chemicals. However, we can take practical steps to reduce exposure while supporting the body's normal digestive and metabolic processes.
We cannot completely eliminate our exposure to plastics and environmental chemicals. However, we can take practical steps to reduce exposure while supporting the body's normal digestive and metabolic processes.
BioZyme Plus™ combines traditional digestive enzyme support with emerging enzyme technology in one comprehensive formulation using a “phthalate-degrading enzyme EstS1”
Digest better. Nourish better. Support your body's natural processes.
